Joyful return falls flat
I flew back into Boston yesterday after a two week stay in North Carolina. I was really looking forward to coming back...back to my bed, back to my friends, back to my car and strangely enough back to my diet. Yay for Christmas cookies, but boo to Christmas pounds. I had a good flight, got picked up by my good friend E, and was greeted by my wonderful roommate H when I walked in the door. After some unpacking, we collected our other lovely roommate L when she got home from work and decided to head out for a tasty dinner at Bertucci's. I figured that I should enjoy some of the great food Boston has to offer before I give it all up again.
Here's where things turn sour... I warmed up my poor car, which had been sitting very still in the driveway since I left. We piled in, and as I started up the driveway I felt it hesitating. It felt like there was something stuck underneath and perhaps a flat tire. I was right. My front left tire was completely flat on the ground. I backed up, and pulled back down the driveway and heard a very bad noise. The tire is now coming off the rim. Lovely. Since talking to my uncle, I'm praying that I didn't bend the rim. Replacing a tire is one thing, but replacing the rim on top of it is a whole other ballgame. The other bad news is that the car is going to sit there until Sunday when my uncle can come help me jack the car up to put on the donut. Sigh. I wish I hadn't come home to this mess, but it's still good to be back-
