Winter Wonderland

It has been a pretty low-key weekend. I've needed the break, because I was pretty wrecked last week. I spent Friday night with the roommates and some take-out Chinese food watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. I love when the Olympics roll around. I was saddened to hear this morning, however, that Michelle Kwan decided to pull out because of her injury. I really wanted this year to be her year. I grew up watching the Olympics with my Mom, and they always make me feel a little nostalgic. It might be cheesy, but I really buy into all of it--the emotion, the excitement, the tradition, and the glory. Ha. I'm such a cornball. I'll be rooting for the American and Norwegian athletes though.

Last night I went to the movies with CK. We saw Something New. It was decent. But it doesn't matter what we do; I always have fun with CK!

Due to the blizzard that is happening outside, I plan on hiding inside all day reading and watching TV. It's beautiful outside, but there is no way I'm going out in it. That's fine by me though! I'm good at lounging around.

In other news, I got another email from Enigma this morning. I had mentioned to him that I wanted to make a trip to Budapest while I'm over there. It turns out that there's a bus from Czech to Budapest for $10. Yay. I'm really looking forward to this trip.

In honor of the blizzard, I leave you with a poem by one of my favorite poets. Enjoy.

The Snow Man
By Wallace Stevens

One must have a mind of winter
To regard the frost and the boughs
Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;

And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter

Of the January sun; and not to think
Of any misery in the sound of the wind,
In the sound of a few leaves,

Which is the sound of the land
Full of the same wind
That is blowing in the same bare place

For the listener, who listens in the snow,
And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is there and the nothing that is

Note of interest: virtually ALL museums are closed on Mondays in Hungary.

There is a Goya, El Greco and Velazquez exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts. www.szepmuveszeti.hu

There is a line most of the day but it's worth it.
