Aphrodite's Pink Nightie

Girls just want to have fun!

It’s one of my favorite, cheesy 80s dance films. You gotta love vintage Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt and Shannen Doherty. But it is also true; girls just want to have fun—especially the ladies in the English MA program!

After my shitty day yesterday, Vixen and I planned a day of indulgence. We got out of our apartments early this morning to go get manicures and pedicures. I had never had a pedicure until Vixen introduced me to them, and now I’m addicted. The shade on my ten fingers and ten toes is indeed called “Aphrodite’s Pink Nightie.” I saw the name and was sold on it. It’s a baby pink color, which isn’t usually my style, but it’s purrrrty.

Afterwards we went for a yummy lunch and then did a little bit of shopping. I bought a new pair of jeans (another size smaller!) and some smell good stuff for the shower. On the way home, we stopped at the grocery store and loaded up on wine and sweets for the chocolate and wine "soiree" that we just had.

Miss Iowa, E, Sunshine and I all gathered at Vixen’s to stuff our faces and watch a movie (or so we thought). We ended up scrapping the plan for the movie and just sitting around and chatting. While we may catch up with each other individually, our lives as graduate students and teachers really keep us out of touch as a whole. It was a blast, and I, perhaps, had too many glasses of wine. I will hydrate and then go to bed.

On the agenda for tomorrow is a trip to Rhode Island with CK; we’re going to catch a college basketball game. I haven’t been to one in about 3 years or so, since my days at State. It should be fun!

The mens may be playing a supporting role in my life right now, but I love all the quality time with my ladies. :-)

Alright, time for bed...since I only got about 3hrs of sleep last night.

My sleep number bed is waiting for me. We have a love-love relationship. :-D
